I found this video today and see it may sound kinda dumb this is kinda how comics make me feel, why I love them so much and, for better or worse, I am the way I am.
Batgirl: Year One, which is a story I LOVE and is in my top favorite all time superhero comics, shows all the strength and love and inspiration that a good story can give you and convey. This song, and yeah maybe it’s a little on the nose or goofy or cliche or played out or lame or what-the-fuck-ever, but it fits what it’s showing. It gets this rhythm of how Barbara is in the story, full of moxy and spunk and get-go. Never ready to give up.
See, the truth about superheroes is not about how incredible they are or what they can do with their amazing abilities, no. It’s about how human they really are. The power to stand up and be great and do good. To never give in. That’s their true superpower. This is what this amazing comic conveyed to me when I first read it, and this video synopsis of it totally puts me back in that mind-set.
Good comics never get old, they’re ever-inspiring.
